An inherent passion for the land has seen Eidsvold’s Dingle family thrive though five generations and a span of 90 years and counting.

The Dingle family selected Goomaram in 1928. Which sees the fifth generation still thriving. Peter worked on the properties with his father Arnie for many years and in 2007 Peter and Kristine Dingle purchased the properties from parents Arnie and Lorna.
Peter and Kristine along with their son Kris and his wife Donna have continued to expand the operation through the North Burnett by purchasing surrounding blocks Mally Plain and Pinedale. Arnie and Lorna are now retired, but Arnie still plays an active role within the operation.
In the early 80s, Peter and Kristine trialled a few different breeds of cattle and found that Brangus suited their country the best.
The decision to breed Brangus paid off in the 1990’s and 2000’s when they were faced with drought years. The cattle were able to adapt well to the seasonal conditions, still displayed good fertility and also maintained the ability to meet market specifications.

“In the late 1990’s, we moved towards creating a stud operation by purchasing some select females from other studs and using our own seed stock Redline Brangus was established in 2000,” Peter said.
“18 years later we’re still passionate about the breed, which we’ve proved by now being one of the largest registered Red Brangus herds in Australia.
They now run a Red Brangus herd consisting of 1800 head including 750 breeders across 18,000 acres.
When it came to breed colour, Kristine said the choice of reds was an easy one.
“You really can’t beat a good line of red cattle, they are appealing to most commercial breeders and fit in well with any herd,” she said.
The Dingles sell around 130 stud and paddock bulls annually, with sires being sold to clients Australia-wide and into America and Pakistan. The Dingle’s said they’ve also been impressed to see the export of Redline Glengool’s semen worldwide.
“Our stud bulls are sold at the same three sales each year, the Classic Red Brangus Sale, Monto All Breeds Sale and Fitzroy Crossing sale in WA.”
Redline has selected 12 elite sires and two registered heifers for this year’s Classic Red Brangus Sale in Gracemere on September 18 (photos and information regarding these lots will be on their website and Facebook page closer to the date).
“We try to purchase registered Red Brangus bulls, most of which are sourced from the Classic Red Brangus Sale.
“We’ve purchased bulls from this sale since it began in 2009. We’ve been happy with the sires as their progeny have excelled in both stud and commercial operations.
“Jateebee Nemo, purchased 3 years ago, was the sire of Redline Napoleon who recently was awarded Calf Champion at Beef 2018.”
The Dingle’s major highlight in the show ring to date has been winning Grand Champion Brangus Bull at the World Brangus Congress at Beef 2012 with Redline Gundie.
Mr Dingle said sires from Doonside, Duarran and Chadwick Downs have also had a positive impact within the breeding program.
On the commercial side of the operation, the Dingle’s breed and trade in steers where bullocks are fattened to weigh 350kg to 370kg dressed which are sold directly to JBS.
“Our elite females are retained for two purposes, to go into the Redline breeding herd and to be sold onto other clients to go into their breeding herds.”
The surplus heifers are fattened on grass and sold direct to works, and in dry years heifers are put into feedlots and sold as MSA direct to works.
“We’re very strict on the cattle kept in the paddock, we cull for productivity, type and temperament.”
When buying at sales they look for good type, thickness, bone, polled and temperament. They essentially target bulls to identify areas they can improve, so they can continue to produce good quality cattle which will perform well in any operation.
Redline Brangus recently imported genetics of MLS Cortez 175C6 into Australia through an exclusive partnership with Texas-based Trio Cattle and Genetics and MLS La Victoria.
“As our herd gene pool has been exceeded, to source new sires we had to go further afield to be able to produce saleable stud animals that can be obtained through Redline,” Peter said.
“We have recently secured the semen from Cortez which will be used in an AI program with our females in November. We are excited to be cataloguing his progeny for the Classic Red Brangus Sale in 2020”. Kristine said
